Evolution Mining and ABC Refinery Partner with the University of Queensland for Breakthrough Cancer Research

In a revolutionary partnership, Evolution Mining and ABC Refinery have donated their resources to the Centre for Personalised Nanomedicine at The University of Queensland. The university will be utilising refined gold nanoparticles donated by Evolution Mining and refined to 999.9+ purity by ABC Refinery, for cancer research.

The laboratory at The University of Queensland is fronted by Professor Matt Trau, who led the innovative discovery that cancerous cells in the human body bind to gold nanoparticles when placed in solution – “I couldn’t believe it was that simple,” said Trau.

The ongoing research requires gold to be refined to a purity of 99.99%.  The refining process is undertaken by ABC Refinery, utilising technologies that are state of the art and environmentally sustainable.

ABC Refinery is the largest and only independent refinery in Australasia accredited by both the London Bullion Market Association and the Shanghai Gold Exchange, which are regarded as the highest international standards for gold trading.

“We are proud to say this project is completely Australian – Australian mined and refined gold along with Australian research. We are honoured to be a part of this world class medical research that will form the basis for vital early cancer detection,” Phillip Cochineas, Managing Director of ABC Refinery, said.
