ABC Refinery Implements Source Certain’s Gold-Origin Verification Technology

ABC Refinery, a Pallion company, today announced the rollout of advanced origin verification technology developed by Australian scientific firm Source Certain. This partnership introduces forensic-level assurance into the gold refining process, enabling ABC Refinery to confirm the precise mine source of all incoming gold through trace element analysis.

Over the past four months, Source Certain has worked with ABC Refinery to establish a forensic reference dataset based on trace element profiles from all gold mines that supply the facility. This framework now underpins a robust verification capability, ensuring that the declared origin of every gold input can be scientifically validated.

Source Certain’s origin verification technology has been commercially applied for nearly 20 years across sectors such as agriculture, seafood, mining and resources. The system employs cutting-edge forensic science to authenticate the provenance of materials, enhancing transparency and safeguarding against supply chain fraud.

By adopting this technology, ABC Refinery moves beyond conventional due diligence, setting a new standard in traceability through evidence-based origin verification for refiners under the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) Good Delivery and Responsible Sourcing Program requirements. LBMA accreditation is awarded only to refiners meeting strict criteria across technical capabilities, responsible sourcing, bar quality and net tangible assets. ABC Refinery remains the only independent Australian refinery to hold this globally recognised status.

This integration of Source Certain’s forensic verification strengthens ABC Refinery and ABC Bullion’s shared commitment to ethical and sustainable sourcing practices, further cementing Pallion’s standing in the global precious metals industry.
